Scotch egg is an ingenious British creation that consists of a boiled egg trapped within a casing of sausage that has been covered in breadcrumbs and deep–fried. The result looks like meatball, with the intention to surprise someone. It has unfortunately (for the non–English) not traveled far.
Scotch egg is excellent. It’s a brilliant method of stuffing one food within another, with the added effect of the inner egg having a naturally–occurring food change within itself as well (the yolk within the white). Scotch egg is portable, but can perish quickly.
Scotch Egg became an official snack on June 22nd 2012.
