Grilled cheese is a sandwich made by grilling or frying two pieces of bread with cheese in the center of them until the bread is lightly toasted and the cheese is melted. It’s an American classic. Of course, ‘America’ means ‘North America’, which in turn means the ‘United States’. In dire consequences, grilled cheese can be prepared on the hot plate of a coffee maker.
Grilled cheese tastes excellent. It pairs well with nearly any soup, and requires little effort to create. The bread on the outsides of grilled cheese is normally buttered to prevent sticking during preparation.
Grilled Cheese became an official snack on May 18th 2012.
