Breadcrumbs are made by crumbling up hardened bread. Prior to breadcrumbs being recognized as an official food, they were only found on the floor and counters of kitchens as remnants of bread. Today, breadcrumbs can be found in packages for sale, instead of just in the trash.
Breadcrumbs usually get used in recipes that contain ground meat. It helps to soften the finished product. Additionally, breadcrumbs can be used to ‘bread’ the outside of anything that is about to get fried. For both of these reasons, bread crumbs are excellent.
Bread Crumbs became an official snack on July 18th 2012.
